Program Description

Event Details

Bob Lipp (aka Robert Lipkowitz) is a former college communications teacher, well-received author, businessperson, husband, and father who has long recognized the value of spoken words in bridging understanding and creating a more productive environment. For some people, however, the spoken word creates obstacles. Many are uncomfortable speaking before groups, while speaking in public to one or more individuals (basic conversation) has too often become an exercise in deflecting criticism or assailing another point of view. This interactive workshop will seek to change that by encouraging participation and inviting revelations about how the spoken word has affected your life, what typical speaking situations leave your throat dry and your palms moist, and how to best use this essential tool. The moderator's goal is to offer tips to help you become a better public speaker based on your current abilities and to build a consensus about why the spoken word matters and how to be a more tolerant and effective communicator.
