With Halloween just around the corner this talk will focus on one of humanity’s oldest fears: witches. But this time it’s the witches who have a reason to be afraid. In this program, we’ll discuss how witch-hunts started, why they took off in some areas and not in others, and what it was like to be accused. These true historical stories will fascinate – and horrify! – you. Presented by Archaeologist Patty Hamrick.
Patty Hamrick is originally from Columbus, Ohio, where she attended the Ohio State University for her undergraduate degree in Archaeology. She went on to earn an M.A. in Anthropological Archaeology from New York University. She has worked on excavations across Europe, Asia, and North America, including India, Cyprus, and Syria. She loves bringing her passion for the past to new people.
The North Shore Programming Consortium consists of six local libraries (Bayville, Glen Cove, Gold Coast, Locust Valley, Oyster Bay and Sea Cliff) that have come together to bring our patrons more of a variety in adult programming in a more cost effective way. We hope you enjoy the programs now accessible from the Consortium!
This program is hosted by Bayville Free Library.
